Introduction to editing

As we started the course, we were given our very own task after being introduced to the basic functions of the camera. We was then put into groups and then given a storyboard which we had to follow for the duration of 40 seconds. Whilst Paige and primrose were directing and filming. Carlton and I were playing the role of the two characters which were fighting with a limited amount of dialogue. Thomas was the bystander which got caught in the cross fire. This was filmed to show our understanding of following and sticking to the storyboard.

After this was filmed we then played back to make sure we had everything and captured the film using final cut pro. when you capture the shots it streams straight onto Final cut pro ready to be edited.

This is our first video that we recorded.

Brief

My given task which i have been given is to produce three main tasks, which was Preliminary Task, the recce and the Main Task. I will now below be showing you viewers how its been placed together and what we had to do

Recce:
we filmed a recce which was basically a scene taken from the main task, but decided not to include it into our main task due to it not really fitting into the film it wasn't needed.

Preliminary Task:
We basically had to produce a 40 second clip which demonstrates our understanding and  awareness of the '180 degree rule' we also came up with a basic concept where there was a conversation between to characters which leads to a confrontation

Main Task:
The reason why for our both films are based on the genre of crime/drama/action is because me and my team mates are originated from North and East London and this is what we are exposed to so we decided to do this film on what

Camera shot and film analysis

there was two main films we had to analyse and study the camera shots.
Training day: As i analysed the film i studied the scene where there was a

Audience types

The genre of our main task is urban crime drama. The reason why we decided to base it on this genre is because it's what we are exposed to and because we are aged from 16-18 the target audience will be based around our age group so the ideal age group will be 16-25.

We then interviewed three students from different urban areas and college in london and gave them a brief description on the film. Then we asked them would they would they watch it and recommend it to their friends.

This video shows what they said.

Recce

Our Recce was about the prison scene in our main task. This where Thomas comes out of prison from doing his sentence and jayde goes to pick him up. We also added an extra in our Recce who had a brief conversation with Thomas. moments after Jayde comes to pick him up, and they have a conversation. We then thought we will not include this into our main task as it is meant to be 2mins, and it will be irrelevant footage.

180 degree rule Dark Knight

The 180° rule is a basic guideline in film making that states that two characters (or other elements) in the same scene should always have the same left/right relationship to each other. If the camera passes over the imaginary axis
